We welcome the statement issued by the Welsh Government on Friday 19 June on the gradual easing of the current lockdown restrictions however, the advice still does not give complete clarity on what campsites can do. The indication is that self contained self catering accommodation will be able to open from 13 July.
We have considered this carefully and taken the difficult decision to only plan to open our Shepherd's Hut from 13 July - not the camping pitches for tents or vans. The Shepherd's Hut can be classed as self contained self catering with exclusive use of our shower and toilet facilities. The Shepherd's Hut is currently fully booked through to the end of August.
Although in theory we think we could permit campervans with their own toilets and showers, given we can only accommodate small vans (less than 6m in length) many such vans may have toilets but rarely showers. This would mean them bringing additional units (shower tents etc.) and we do not have adequate space on site to facilitate this. We would also need to put in place strict social distancing rules across the site and we believe that it would compromise the enjoyment of the site for all campers. We are responsible for ensuring that social distancing is maintained and that the site adheres to strict cleanliness rules - something that would be difficult to do due to the small size of our site.
Given our close proximity to the village, we are also conscious of how opening our campsite will impact on our local community. Currently all tourism and hospitality facilities are closed and as far as we are aware there are no plans for them to open.
I am so sorry we can't take your booking and we hope that you will choose to camp with us one day in the future.
